Coastal Sound’s mission is to transform lives and build community through choral music. Our goals are to inspire each singer to develop to their fullest potential as individuals, musicians and as caring, engaged citizens. We nurture healthy developing voices, musical excellence, artistry and genuine connection. Coastal Sound has been in operation for 31 years and is a Registered Charity in Canada.

Singers are grouped by age and experience. All of the 5 choirs at Coastal Sound offer learner-centred instruction by professional choral music educators, vocal coaches and conductors. We aim to meet the musical, intellectual and social needs of singers.

Now, more than ever, we all want to feel joy, inspiration, growth, self-confidence, and optimism for the future. We need routines, safe spaces, a sense of purpose and grounding. We need to grasp on to those silver linings and gratitudes no matter how small.

This season Coastal Sound continues to nurture healthy developing voices, musical excellence, artistry and genuine connection. Our unique online programming takes advantage of the opportunities presented in the virtual realm, including workshops with presenters from around the world, collaborating with other choirs, and being able to explore and gain new musical skills in the anonymity of our own spaces.

Like most Arts organizations, Coastal Sound faces unprecedented financial pressures this season without revenue from concerts and in-person fundraisers to support us. Many families are also dealing with financial pressure, and so we have worked hard to keep tuition fees as low as possible this year.

We have started a new Fundraising Campaign with FundScrip where you can purchase Gift Cards from hundreds of Retailers in British Columbia and a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to CSMA.
