Overview
The Aidaen Mae Wellness room was opened on October 10th, 2019 by Scott and Kelly Mitchell, the parents of 14 year old Aidaen Mae who took her own life earlier that year due to mental illness. The Mitchell's refused to stand-by watching kids struggle without the peer support they needed to assist the current mental health system. Their mission is to provide a supportive, safe and non-judgmental environment where youth can receive support and guidance to navigate their mental health and wellness. They are also committed in providing peer based support for their parents so they can better navigate mental health support for their children ensuring a healthier quality of life for their families.
In addition to providing peer support for families the Aidaen Mae Wellness Room is a daily drop in center aimed at youth ages 12-17. They can drop-in without an appointment and know they are safe, heard, and supported. Youth are reminded what it means to be young and innocent. The Wellness Room provides a full schedule of events; theme nights, movie nights, after school snacks, locally hosted meal nights, books, art supplies, board game nights, TV & video games, computer & internet access, rock painting, help with homework & lots more!
Through the efforts of numerous trained volunteers , the Mitchell's aim to build youth empowerment giving the resources and belief that they can have a meaningful and fulfilling lives as unique individuals.
