Overview

WCYR was founded in 1977 by two women who saw a need in their community and decided to make a difference. With no resources other than a car, they began helping mothers exit abusive relationships and find meaningful employment toward independence. After 45 years, we are proud to say we continue the spirit of this mission today! WCYR provides women experiencing gender-based violence and intersecting socioeconomic barriers to success with free evidence-informed programs to remove the obstacles and build women's assets towards a sustainable livelihood. Our mission is using a strengths-based, trauma-informed feminist approach, we provide opportunities, support and resources to all persons who identify as women on their journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
