Overview
Welcome to the Animal Health Laboratory's 2020 United Way campaign!
We may be physically apart this year, but we are still together in our common goal: improving life in our community.
This year, we're rethinking our annual United Way campaign. We are looking at this virtual fundraising platform as a way to bring us together and raise much needed funds for the United Way. Our goal is to show the Guelph community that despite the challenges we face with COVID-19, we are here - and we care.
We understand that COVID-19 has created financial challenges for many of our colleagues and their loved ones. So this year we are offering a new way for everyone to contribute that will cost you nothing! We are simply asking you to change your method of payment on your existing costs. Do you buy groceries each week? Do you buy gas for your car? New clothes each season? Do you order a pizza on Friday night? Are you renovating your home or expanding your garden? Keep spending as usual, but do so using a gift card that you have purchased through our Fundscrip fundraising campaign. Buy a $100 gift card for $100, then spend that same money on your groceries as planned. It costs you nothing, but gives back to your community as the retailer has agreed to donate 3% - 25% of that gift card sale to our cause.
Every dollar, and every donor, is important to the people in our community and on our campus. The money we raise here will go to the local Guelph Wellington Dufferin United Way, benefiting our friends, family and neighbours.
How Your Donations Help
• $1 a day for a year provides three months of city bus tickets, helping individuals get to appointments and access services they need.
• $25 helps pay for personal hygiene items, socks and underwear so an at-risk youth can look for employment confidently.
• $100 supports therapy dogs and their handlers with the tools they need to help others.
• $500 gives an individual experiencing homelessness the opportunity to pay for last month's rent and have a safe place to sleep.
• $1,000 helps seven seniors attend a year-long program to cook and share a meal together, reducing isolation and helping maintain independence.
Thank you all for supporting our community, our local United Way, and helping us reach our fundraising goals. Without you, there would be no way!
