Overview
A few years ago a dedicated group of community volunteers approached the YMCA of Northern British Columbia to take over the operation of licensed daycare services in Chetwynd. It was this group’s vision that our community would embrace and support the YMCA of Northern BC to provide quality child care to this generation and future generations of local children. In order to achieve this goal a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) has been formed with the primary function to undertake fundraising efforts and support the local daycare and after school program.
We would like to acknowledge the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has presented to local families as well as businesses around the province and country. Throughout the pandemic the YMCA Chetwynd Care and Learning Center was the only licensed program who remained open and provided care to the children of essential service workers in our community. In the spirit of giving back we are proud to announce the PAC’s first fundraising campaign through FundScrip. Funds raised will go directly back into the YMCA Chetwynd Care and Learning Center benefiting our local families.
Our FundScrip campaign allows supporters to purchase gift cards for everyday purchases from a wide array of retail categories such as groceries, gas, home improvement, department stores, restaurants, coffee shops, clothing stores and many more. The gift cards themselves come from some of Canada’s largest retailers. They are sold at face value, but earn rebates ranging from 2%- 10% of the purchase price of the cards. A list of participating retailers and their rebate percentages is on the paper order form that accompanies this letter.
